The Unbeaten Path

Captured with a Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL and 18mm lens at f/9.0 for 5/2s and 400 ISO.

I drove around with Andrew tonight trying to get some cool long exposures cause it was quite foggy. I think his shot is for today is gonna be cooler than mine, but i was driving the car he was shooting, so what can I do? :P

So this photo was taken on a bridge near the zoo. A was standing on the lower part of the handrail with my tripod balancing on two legs on the other side of the handrail... Needless to say, it was kinda scary. But I managed to take a really sharp image despite the relatively long exposure.

Now onto the colours, arguably my favourite part of the post-process. Hurray for RAW for being able to produce naturalistic colours! Then we introduce piles of vignetting to make it feel even more isolated, pull the shadows towards blue, the highlights to yellow, and the midrange to an orange. Subtlety is the key here. I also decided to pull out the saturation on the colours as you reach the edges of the image, adding to the isolation. Please feel free to comment! I really do appreciate it!

edit: take a looky here to see how Andrew shot the exact same scene.
